A Passage Engraved in My Soul

All Men Are like Grass, and All Their Glory Is like the Flowers of the Field

  • People wish to live long. Also, they invest most of their time in gaining higher positions and honor; they make great efforts to be known not only in their communities but also in the world.

In one and only life, who would not want that? I was not an exception. I made every effort to become a great man and always searched for the way to make my name known to all. That was my noblest and most ideal goal. But then, I came to see the words of the Bible.

A voice says, “Cry out.” And I said, “What shall I cry?” “All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the Lord blows on them. Surely the people are grass.” (Isa 40:6–7)

These verses made me think about what our life is and how meaningless our boasts are. I started wondering whether worldly honor and authority are related to salvation and whether they last forever. I was deeply moved and enlightened by the fact that all
men surely wither like grass and that all their boasts fall to the ground like flowers and disappear in the end. My view that was trapped in this world was opened wide, and a new turning point came to my life.

I truly give thanks to Heavenly Father and Mother for awakening me to the spiritual world; They let me realize that I am a sinner who would wither tomorrow after blooming today, and gave me a new life so that I can reach the kingdom of heaven with God’s word that stands forever. I will strive for the duties given to me, looking forward to the glory of the royal priesthood in the eternal kingdom of heaven.
