A daily life information magazine conducted a survey on the “type of people whom we don’t want to go on a trip with.” According to the survey result, “people who blindly follow,” “people who always complain,” and “people who are strongly self-opinionated” ranked high on the list. Nobody would ever like a companion who shifts responsibility onto others without making any effort to navigate his way at an unfamiliar place or complains about everything without tolerating any variable. It is also not easy to go on a trip with those who are very self-opinionated about where to go and what to eat.
“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes” (Novelist Marcel Proust).
A meaningful trip with others requires consideration, respect for others, understanding, and yielding. Our going towards the Kingdom of Heaven with our spiritual brothers and sisters is similar to a journey. On this journey, we may encounter a rain shower or have to detour. In such situations, if we constantly complain or shift responsibility onto others, our journey will become tougher.
If we check the direction of our faith with the Bible as our compass, and pay attention to the words of the brothers and sisters with consideration instead of being strongly self-opinionated, our journey will be more joyful and beneficial. Above all, let us never forget that God is with us. Since God guides us in the right path and day after day strengthens us with His words of the water of life, how joyful and thankful our journey is!
