Wound

  • I accidentally scratched the front of my car while parking. It was a frustrating situation. I quickly looked into repair shops, but the cost was more than I expected. Since it didn’t affect driving, I reluctantly decided to leave it as it was. But as time passed, rust began to form over the scratched area. No matter how much I tried to ignore it, it continued to bother me and before I knew it, I found myself thinking something rather unrealistic:

“If only it could heal on its own, like a wound on the body . . .”

I have always found the self-healing nature of living things fascinating. Even without applying medicine, a scab forms, and though a scar may remain, the wound eventually heals on its own. This is something shared by all living things—animals and plants alike. Yet, man-made objects are different. Lacking life, they cannot repair themselves. When they are damaged, they remain so unless someone steps in to fix them.

I cannot help but marvel at God’s power in creating living beings with the innate ability to heal themselves. Because this phenomenon is so familiar, we often take it for granted. But when we look at it from a different perspective, it is by no means ordinary. Even a small wound leads us to realize that human wisdom can never compare with the wisdom of God.
