I grew up in a small, quiet village nestled by a river estuary. For the villagers who made their living from the sea, the ebb and flow of the tides and the direction of the wind were part of their everyday language. At the highest point in the village stood a historic lighthouse. It was more than just a landmark; it was a lifeline—the most reliable guide for ships navigating the dark sea.
As a child, I remember my teacher explaining the role of a lighthouse, saying it lights the way for fishermen through the endless darkness and guides them safely back home. Having never drifted across the night sea myself, I didn’t fully grasp its importance at the time; I simply viewed it as a structure that had little to do with my own life.
After receiving the truth in a foreign land, I returned home and saw the lighthouse again. In that moment, I was struck by a profound realization: I, too, had needed a spiritual lighthouse all along.
My soul was like a fisherman navigating a dark, vast sea. Without the light of Heavenly Father and Mother, I would have remained lost in this world, unable to find the way back to my heavenly home. Because God Himself came to this earth and shone the light of truth, I am longer drifting aimlessly; I have found the way back to the kingdom of heaven.
Just as I failed to see the importance of a lighthouse as a child—having never been out at sea—I didn’t realize how much I needed God until I saw the reality of my own spiritual state. It was only after recognizing that I was walking in spiritual darkness that the truth finally became clear. I realized then that I desperately need the light of God Elohim to guide me back to my eternal home in heaven.
A lighthouse never stops shining its light, whether anyone is watching or not. In the same way, God always illuminates my path with unchanging love. Even when I was lost and weary—or when my heart grew dull and I failed to follow His guidance—He never gave up on me, but waited with patience and gentleness.
Now, I too want to become a small lamp—one that doesn’t shine with its own light, but reflects the light given by Heavenly Father and Mother. With that light of love, I hope to bring warmth to my brothers and sisters in Zion and to shine the way to the eternal kingdom of heaven for souls still wandering in darkness.
