We Are Mother’s Children

“We thank and glorify our God, sharing love with one other. We fulfill the perfect love of God, without hate; oh, how blessed we are! We give in for our loving brothers without pride and with a humble mind.” (From New Song “We”)

I remember being surprised while singing the New Song “We.” All thirteen of Mother’s Teachings were included in the lyrics! I had always thought it was simply a song about the qualities I should have or about loving my brothers and sisters. But once I recognized Mother’s Teachings within it, each line overflowed with meaning. Since then, whenever I catch myself acting in ways unworthy of being God’s child, I think of this song and remind myself, “I must be a child who practices Mother’s teachings.”

I also noticed that the lyrics begin with “We” rather than “I,” reminding me that change is not something I pursue alone, but something we strive for together as a Zion family. Reflecting on the challenges my brothers and sisters face, I felt an even stronger desire to help one another grow and be born anew. I was reminded once again of Heavenly Mother’s words: “Success comes through unity.”

I am grateful to God for allowing me to learn and reflect through this New Song. Guided by its message, I will strive together with my brothers and sisters to joyfully put Mother’s Teachings into practice.
