Plowing the Field of Our Heart

  • Cultivating flowers in Zion, I learned that each plant has its own unique characteristics and that it requires different soil compositions. No matter how fresh a plant may be, if the soil composition is not suitable for the plant, water does not get drained well, and it attracts insects, and leads to formation of molds. In a serious case, the plant may die. Only when we take out stones from the soil and soften it, plants can take root and grow strong to beautifully bloom.

Such principles of creation led me to think about why Heavenly Mother tells us to plow the field of our heart. If we truly want to reap good gospel results with firm faith in God, we must let go of our hardened heart like stone, and soften our bad characters to become humble and tender.

When we look at flowers in full bloom, we feel great. Heavenly Father and Mother too must be smiling with great joy, seeing Their children change in character to become perfect in obedience to God’s word. I really want to put a smile on the faces of our Father and Mother by diligently plowing the field of my heart and reaping gracious gospel results like beautiful flowers in full bloom.
