Recently, I watched a video of a performance by the Messiah Orchestra of the Church of God. Every piece was deeply moving and stirred my heart. What impressed me most was how the sound of each instrument seemed to stand out more vividly when the camera shifted from the full view of the orchestra to a close-up of a single instrument.
One instrument, in particular, drew my attention—the triangle. Often seen in the hands of children due to its simplicity, it seemed almost out of place in such a grand orchestra. Yet the musician playing it had eyes that sparkled more brightly than anyone else’s. Though small and unassuming, the triangle produces a clear and beautiful sound. It’s easy to overlook when it’s present, but its absence leaves a noticeable gap in the music.
In Zion, we gather with our own unique characteristics, each taking on different roles. Some roles may appear greater, others smaller. Like the violin that carries the main melody, some roles may lead throughout the entire piece; others, like the triangle, may offer only a subtle accent—yet one that is meaningful and essential. Even if a role seems minor or is easily overlooked, fulfilling it with faith and sincerity can bring a beautiful harmony to the whole—just like the triangle in an orchestra. I, too, want to do my very best in whatever role I’m entrusted with in Zion.
