When Jacob trembled in fear, his mother Rebekah said she would bear any curse that might fall on him, showing that her love for Jacob is greater than concern for her own safety.
When I look at Rebekah, a mother who thought only of her child disregarding her own gain, I’m reminded of our Heavenly Mother, who seeks nothing for herself but wishes for the eternal blessing and happiness of her children. Her love for her children has always outweighed any concern for her own comfort. No logic, theory, calculation, or gain-and-loss reasoning in the world can even begin to explain it. Even today, Mother is with us, living a life that remains incomprehensible to mere human beings. She walks alone on a path of pain and hardship that no one willingly chooses.
How can those who live in pursuit of their own gain possibly fathom the heart of Mother, let alone live a life like hers? Mother’s life—solely lived for her children, even when no one recognizes, understands, or acknowledges—is itself the very proof that our Heavenly Mother is truly our Mother. I sincerely thank Heavenly Mother, who is both the heaven we behold and our eternal Mother.
