Recently, I wanted to show my daughter—who had just started walking—the snowy landscape outside the window. I lifted her onto the windowsill, holding her firmly to make sure she wouldn’t fall. While looking at the scenery, to my surprise, she suddenly grabbed a piece of cloth lying nearby and started wiping the window. It was the same cloth my husband and I use to wipe away condensation. I was deeply moved. Even though she was simply imitating her parents without fully understanding why, she looked so adorable and brought us so much joy.
My daughter will only be able to understand the true purpose behind her parents’ actions once she grows older. In the same way, we can grow well spiritually when we strive to follow the examples set by God. Even if we do not understand everything now, we will come to understand later (Jn 13:7). In the meantime, I believe Heavenly Father and Mother will look upon Their children with affection and find great joy in our efforts to follow Them.
If someone had seen my daughter at that moment, they could have easily guessed what I do every morning. Just as children’s actions reflect their parents, I hope that all my deeds imitate Father and Mother, so that people may catch a glimpse of Them through me (1 Co 11:1).
